World Premiere
JR: Expo 2 Rue / The Netherlands 2006 / 18min. French with English subtitles.
Director Chiel Aldershoff / Producer Geert van de Wetering

In his work, French photographer and street artist JR shows the Paris ghettoes in all their rawness and glory. JR, who happened to find his first camera in the Paris subway one night, has been working in the French ghettoes long before the recent riots and long before all sorts of media outlets took an interest in these long forgotten, often desolate urban spaces.
Besides documenting daily life in suburban Paris, JR also tries to liven up the depressing grey concrete high rises by illegally pasting oversized posters of his work on the ghetto walls creating a street gallery of everyday people.
