Fish & Ships

World Premiere

New Zealand 2007 / 28min.
Director Richard Humphreys / Producer Richard Humphreys

Set around the fishing fleet based at beautiful Island Bay, Fish & Ships will take the viewer out on the ocean and behind the scenes to see what it takes to make it in this challenging industry.

Island Bay’s fishing heritage stretched back to early last century when Italians, Scots and Shetland Islanders first discovered the rich Cook Strait fishing grounds. In some cases the descendents are still fishing.

These unique characters have some great stories to tell. It’s not an easy life working the waters of Cook Strait, but their passion for their job shines through even on the dullest day.

Fish & Ships taps this enthusiasm in a poetic tale of life — past, present and future.
