Courting Condi

Asia Pacific Premiere

USA 2008 / 107min.
Director/Producer Sebastian Doggart.

There’s a man out there who is seriously in love with Condoleezza Rice and is on a quest to meet her. He’s none other than Devin Ratray who played Buzz in Home Alone. Devin is both an Everyman and a naturally funny man. With shades of John Belushi, his absurd quest to win the heart of such an elusive woman is a story that has touched us all. It doesn’t matter that Devin is 29, and Condi is 54. To hell with the fact that she can bench-press 140 pounds while he can barely raise 40. Who cares if she is black and he is white, or that she’s the most powerful woman in the most powerful Administration in the world, while he’s a struggling actor and musician? He believes it and so do we: Love can conquer all.

Courting Condi is the first musical docu-tragi-comedy ever! The film follows Devin’s hilarious, emotionally engaging, and ultimately shocking quest to woo Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Devin makes compilations of love songs he penned for her, he travels around America learning all he can about Condi and seeking courting advice from those that know her.

Courting Condi will inspire audiences to laugh, sing and dream sweetly about a subject which some of us may consider nightmarish.

The film was controversially pulled from a Stanford Film Society screening supposedly on account of pressure from Condi and her friends.
