Enta Omri is without any doubt the greatest Arabic song of all time! This unique and visually thrilling video is a gorgeous gift to music lovers the world over. Originally sung and most identified with Umm Kulthoum, the Egyptian diva, this love song was a constant feature on her weekly radio program which was broadcast all over the Arab world.
Also known as ‘The Star of the East’, Umm Kulthoum is considered to be the best and most influential Arab singer who ever lived. Born in Egypt in 1908, and died there in 1975, she sang over 400 songs and her songs are still heard with the same reverence as when she was alive. Her audience still hums along or cries in reaction to the passion she evokes and the wide range of pitch with which she sings.
In this extraordinary work, Israeli superstar Zehava Ben plays homage to the song and the woman. Zahava Ben is the world’s leading female vocalist in the Mizrahi music genre and is considered by many to be Umm Kulthoum’s successor.
Director Ron Ben Yosef has created a hypnotic visual illustration, not only of this extraordinary love song, but also of universal emotions and beauty. Shot brilliantly on locations throughout the Middle East, Enta Omri is the ultimate audiovisual experience. Music truly transcends the boundaries of politics and religion.
