Goleshovo

Asia Pacific Premiere

UK, Bulgaria 2008 / 34min. / Bulgarian with English subtitles.
Director Ilian Metev. Producers Metodi Metev, Ilian Metev, Hemant Sharda.

The village of Goleshovo is located in South-West Bulgaria and is part of Municipality Sandanski (Blagoevgrad District). It is situated in nature reserve "Ali Botush" (The boot of Aly) in the Slavynka mountain. There are 2 churches in the village of Goleshovo — "Sveti Dimitar" and "Uspenie Bogorodichno". It has a population of 74 inhabitants to 01/01/2007.

In Goleshovo, time has stopped. A handful of old women and a forgetful priest get by without telephone, water or link to the outside world. This lyrical and hauntingly beautiful film observes their everyday struggles and longing for human contact. Yet, amidst the quiet beauty and decay of Goleshovo, some hope may still prevail.
