In December 2004, BBC World viewers tuned in to hear that Dow Chemical was fully accepting responsibility for the 1984 Bhopal disaster, a toxic gas leak in which 18,000 people were
killed. Dow spokesman ‘Jude Finisterra’ also announced a $12 billion aid package for the people of Bhopal. The broadcast was seen by millions. The Yes Men struck again!

The Yes Men Fix the World is a screwball true story about a couple of gonzo political activists infiltrating big business and pulling off outrageous pranks that highlight how corporate greed is destroying the planet. Called “the Jonathan Swift of the Jackass generation” by author Naomi Klein, Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno fancy themselves serious antiglobalization activists.

They pose as corporate spokespersons, make uncanny replicas of company websites, and infamously published a spot-on parody of the New York Times with headlines such as “Iraq War Ends” and “Nation Sets Its Sights On Building Sane Economy.” Their latest stunts include the “SurvivaBall,” an inflatable prophylactic suit insulating wearers against man-made ecological disasters, and a ground-breaking new bio-fuel synthesized from the bodies of climate-change victims.

The Yes Men Fix the World is a carnivalesque comedy in the face of corporate and political greed complete with an underwater ballet.
