Filmmaking workshop and documentary competition for high school students in Auckland City

Capture: Youth Unscripted is a Converse filmmaking workshop and documentary competition for young filmmakers organised by Auckland City Council, Community Action on Youth and Drugs (CAYAD) and DOCNZ.

Workshop

Date: 10am–2pm, 20 April 2007
Pioneer Women’s Hall, Freyberg Square, Auckland Central
(between High Street and Freyberg Place)

The free workshop on 20 April 2007, open to Auckland city students aged 13 to 18 years, will introduce the importance of documentaries and how young people can get access and participate in documenting the world around them.

Students will hear from established film makers about making documentaries and tips for documentary making with what resources are available.

Competition

Entry deadline: 11 June 2007

Create a short documentary and your film could be shown at the 2007 DOCNZ Film Festival.

This competition is an opportunity for people aged between 13 to 18 years to tell positive stories of how young people are involved in their communities.

Competition entries will be judged by peers and established New Zealand filmmakers. Winning films will be shown at the DOCNZ film festival, held from Sept–Nov 2007.

Rules for entry

The entry of a film in Capture: Youth Unscripted is regarded as an acknowledgement of the above regulations.
