NZ Film Archive, cnr Taranaki & Ghuznee Streets, Wellington
Here is your chance to get your next documentary project off the ground. Carole Dean will run a 2-day seminar on the art of funding, including one-on-one mentoring.
Places are still available. Book your space now or register 9am, Tues at The Film Archive.
I know how hard it is to make an “ask,” I do it all the time raising funds for my non-profit organization, From the Heart Productions, and when I call companies to raise goods and services for my grants. There are some tricks to the trade; some things you really need to know and practice that make it a lot easier. Plus I think your mind-set and your foundation for funding your film are the most important elements in funding. These are the things we work on in my seminars.
Funding is not a tested scientific science; fund raising is more like quantum physics. Things keep changing all the time so the only constant is change. Your proposal will change as you get closer to your film, your pitch changes because you pay attention to what works and your trailer may change two or three times. These are good signs, you are not alone, this happens to many filmmakers.
Come with an open mind.
Your written proposal or your ideas for the film need to be sent to Carole by email for review at least 3 working days prior to the date of the workshop: caroledean@paradise.net.nz
