The NZ Breakers to attend the screening of Hoop Dreams at the DOCNZ Focus's launch on 29 July

There are only a few days left before the launch of DOCNZ Focus, a society for documentary films. To become a member of the 2008/9 programme, please click here.

DOCNZ Focus will commence on Tuesday the 29th at 6:30pm at the Academy Cinemas with a screening of Hoop Dreams, one of the most loved classic documentaries. Made in 1994, the film follows the lives of two African American boys who struggle to become college basketball players on the road to going professional. Hoop Dreams was nominated for an Oscar and won numerous awards and voted the # 1 documentary film ever made by the International Documentary Association.

The NZ Breakers will attend the screening and take part in the discussion which will follow it. Come and meet Coach Andrej Lemanis and the Breakers Tony Ronaldson, Phill Jones, Tim Behrendorff, and Adam Tanner.

For your chance to win 2 tickets, send your response to the questions below to focus@docnz.org.nz:
1. Name the comedian that stars in Rock N Roll Nerd
2. Name the directors of Forgotten Silver
All correct entries will be placed in a lucky draw and the winner will be announced on Monday, 28th July.

At the launch, five lucky members of DOCNZ Focus will win a DVD of the documentary Crude Impact which was screened in DOCNZ 2007.

Become a member today. Registrations will also be available on the night of the screenings. For those who wish to attend individual screenings, limited tickets will be made available at the door prior to each screening.

We look forward to seeing you at the Academy Cinema on Tuesday 29th at 6.30pm.
