The DOCNZ Summit 2007 includes panel discussions, workshops, and a pitching forum.

Mon, 24 Sept: Panel Discussions

• Facing Realities: The future of documentary filmmaking and the challenges facing filmmakers and broadcasters.
• It’s a Great Idea, But…: What Commissioners and Funders look for in a documentary idea.
• Promised Paradise (Film Screening, dir. Leonard Retel Helmrich)
• A Brave New World: Funding avenues for documentaries.
• A Whole New World: Using new formats in documentary: animation, 3G technology, internet TV, video web sites and virtual worlds.

Tues, 25 Sept: Workshops

• Close Encounters of the Single Shot Kind: Celebrated Dutch film-maker, Leonard Retel Helmrich facilitates a workshop on how to capture a moment in one shot, and think in camera movements instead of fixed frames.
• Sound Talking: How to use music and sound design to enhance a documentary; how to manage your workflow when working with music and sound.

Wed, 26 Sept: Pitching Forum

• Pitching Forum: Seven filmmakers will pitch their documentary projects to a panel of international and local commissioners.
• The Audience You Deserve: Panel discussion on how to find an audience for your film: festivals, sales and acquisitions.
