1. Festival opens in Christchurch this week

After a successful run in Auckland and Dunedin, Christchurch is next to enjoy DOCNZ 2007! The festival will run from Thurs, 25 October to Sun, 4 November at Regent on Worcester.

Book 5 films or more and receive an instant discount at the box office.

Three reasons to check out this year’s line-up:

The Opening Night film is Leonardo DiCaprio’s The 11th Hour at 8.30pm!
Check out the winners of the DOCNZ 2007 competition and see for yourself why they’ve won!
A special closed captions screening of the film Hear and Now will be held on Sun, 28 October at 3.30pm.

Wellington: DOCNZ is coming 8 November!

Tickets goes on sale at Regent on Manners and Paramount on Thursday, 25 October. For films screening at the NZ Film Archive, tickets will be (only) available on the day of the screenings.

A total of $33,000 in cash and products were given out at the DOCNZ 2007 Awards Night. Congratulations to all the winners!

3. Funding seminar in Wellington–registration is now open

Here is your chance to get your next documentary project off the ground.

In association with WIFT Wellington, DOCNZ will run the Carole Dean (From The Heart Productions) 2 day seminar The Art of Funding at the DOCNZ Summit 2007 Wellington (6th–7th November) at the NZ Film Archive (Cnr of Taranaki and Ghuznee streets).

The seminar will cover the following topics:

The pitch
The proposal
Where to look for money
How to ask for money, guidance and support on your film
The best way to approach corporations for funding
Ways to get discounts or free goods and services
Is your film a good fit for branding or product placement?
How and where to get money or products for your film
Finding people and organizations to fund your film
The seminar will also include one-on-one mentoring with Carole

Registration is now open until Friday, 2nd November 2007 at 5pm.
