Kia ora! 2010 is finally here which means that the next Festival and Summit are just around the corner. The programme launch on the 27th this month will not only introduce the festival’s programme, but also reveal our new brand. That’s right, we are re-branding so watch this space for our exciting new name and look.
In this newsletter we announce some of the films featuring in the next festival. You are now able to adopt a film as part of the Adopt a Doco initiative. The deadline for the DOCNZ Pitching Forum and DOCNZ Lab proposals is on 15th Jan, and we also extended the Early Bird special for the Summit's registration to the 15th of this month. We are accepting nominations for the Outstanding Contribution to the NZ’s Documentary Industry award.

We are pleased to announce more films selected for the 2010 programme. The 5th edition of the festival is promised to be cutting-edge with over 50 documentaries from NZ and around the world. The full programme and festival website will be revealed on 27 January.
The Festival will be held in Auckland at Rialto Cinemas Newmarket 27 Feb-14 Mar and in Wellington at Angelika at Reading Cinemas Courtenay 13-28 Mar.
Any of the documentaries at the next festival are now open for adoption. DOCNZ’s Adopt A Doco Programme is offering companies/individuals a unique opportunity to support the Documentary New Zealand Trust. This is an occasion to help bring great documentaries to the DOCNZ Festival 2010, while demonstrating your company’s innovative side of business – giving you a unique talking point.

The Documentary NZ Trust is accepting nominations for the Outstanding Contribution to the NZ’s Documentary Industry award.
This award is to recognise either an individual or an organization for their contribution to New Zealand’s documentary industry. The presentation will take place at the DOCNZ 2010 Awards Night on 3rd March 2010.
Individuals, organisations and companies from all levels and sectors may be nominated. The term "outstanding contribution" may describe a single action, activity or achievement, or an entire lifetime of commitment but such contribution has added to, enhanced or changed the course of New Zealand’s documentary industry.
We invite you to submit a nomination.
The deadline for nominations is Friday January 29, 2010.

DOCNZ Lab will be held in Auckland at Co-Lab AUT on 27 & 28 February 2010 and the DOCNZ Pitching Forum will be held during the DOCNZ Summit held in Auckland at AUT 1-3 March 2010.

We are proud to announce a new partnership with Auckland University of Technology (AUT). AUT will be the exclusive venue for both DOCNZ Lab and Summit 2010.
AUT is a leading institute for media and technology and its initiative, CoLab, is an outstanding example of it. CoLab aims to facilitate and promote creative practice, research and development, knowledge sharing, skills transfer and innovation. It will enable the development and public dissemination of hybrid ideas, research and creative practices through innovative formats, modes and networks.
We welcome AUT at our new partner and look forward to making it the home for our industry activities as well as developing more joint activities in the future.
International Festival of Oceanic Documentary Film (FIFO 2010) is introducing an international pitching event for oceania. All project-proposers will be granted three to five minutes to meet and present their film idea to an audience of international buyers and financers such as commissioning editors, investors or other producers. A coach will be available to help those who are interested work on their presentation prior to the pitching session on Thursday, 28 January 2010.
