Each year, the DOCNZ Festival showcases the very best in documentary films from New Zealand and all around the world.
To run a world-class event that will resonate both with the local and international community, we need to be able to run and maintain a professional organisation that is properly resourced. As with all other professional arts organisations, to do so we need to call upon your generosity.
Through the programmes of the Trust, local filmmakers are able to put their ideas into practice, screen their films locally and be exposed internationally. We support talented documentary filmmakers at all levels of their careers and contribute to the ongoing health and development of the documentary industry in New Zealand.
The Documentary New Zealand Trust is a not-for-profit charitable organisation that relies on the generosity of the community.
A festival is a time consuming and expensive event to plan, organise, promote and to put into action. While the DOCNZ Festival runs for around two months, The Trust is busy year round preparing for the national event, sourcing and selecting the films, printing programmes and marketing materials and working as an advocate and educator for New Zealand documentary filmmakers. Some expenditures are covered by the festival’s box office sales, corporate sponsorship and community funding, but unfortunately this is not enough for The Trust to be able to continue its activities effectively.
The Trust invites you to join us in our efforts to provide a home for our documentary filmmakers and help us achieve our goal of becoming the capital of documentary films in the Southern Hemisphere.
Memberships are annual. Of course, all donations are tax-deductible.
To become a Member, please fill-in the Membership Form with payment and mail it back to us.
Thank you! All donations are gratefully received.
If you have any questions or would like to support The Trust in any other way please contact Dan Shanan.
